So it’s been a while since I’ve had an update for you on our progress, and I wanted to address a question we’ve been hearing a lot lately. Namely, a lot of people have been asking us why we haven’t gone to Kickstarter or another crowdfunding platform yet, given that we originally said we wouldin Spring 2015.

Here’s an all-too-common occurrence: You walk out of a coffee shop or bookstore and breath an initial sigh of relief when you see that your bike is still there. But then you look closer and … damnit. Someone snagged your saddle while you were gone.

There’s nothing worse than the sinking feeling of returning to where you locked your bike to find just a wheel locked to the rack, or just the remains of a cut cable, or that the dog you locked your bike to wandered off and then someone stole your bike and used it to run over the dog.

We’re pleased to present a brand new concept design for NoJack! It’s still early days for us in terms of the design, so of course this could change as we further refine the look and alter it to accommodate engineering challenges like making it tamper-proof.

  • There's Still Hope Even if Your Bike Has Been Stolen

    by Scott

Let’s face it, bike thefts happen. No matter how solid the anti-theft measures you use to guard your bike are (cable, u-lock, tying a rabid pit-bull to your frame, etc.) they can still be counteracted or defeated. But luckily there are a number of resources that riders can take to protect their bike prior to a theft, and for getting them back if they are stolen.

Beautiful, isn’t it? That’s right, the first working prototype for the NoJack smart bike alarm is the pinnacle of engineering perfection, marrying clean design with superior functionality. Marvel at the aerodynamic breadboard, the structurally-sound rubber band holding the battery pack in place, the smooth contours of the piezo alarm we ripped out of a personal alarm and repurposed, the classic lines and form factor born from meticulous design and precision engineering …

“Can you make NoJack do X?” Where X is a feature or function that the other person would like to see incorporated into NoJack, is a fairly common question that we get asked. We love talking to people about ideas for NoJack for the great feedback and insight it provides us, and it lets us hone our concept for what we think NoJack should be.

Here are some photos from a recent ride out past Alpine Dam. These were taken on a section known as the Seven Sisters, which consist of seven stepped hills where the rider is treated to commanding views off to either side, making for some spectacular scenery that almost makes you forget the gruelling climbing you have to do to get there. Almost. So enjoy the photos, and keep riding!
